Ahmed Deedat, My Favorite Debater
Syekh Ahmed
Hussein Deedat is a Moslem Intellectual in religion comparison level. He is
also a writer, teacher and an orator.
Ahmed
Deedat was born on June 1st 1918 in Surat, Bombay, India. His
parents are Hussein Kazim Deedat and Fatimah.
In
his age of 9th, he moved to Durban, South Africa. His father worked
as a tailor while Ahmed Studied at Islamic Centre in Durban.
After
he graduated (1934) he opens a salt shop to help his father. Ahmed often
changes his profession. Although he works he still continues his education at
State Art Faculty. He never forgets the temptation from missionaries when he
still sold salt. They always invite Ahmed and his Moslem friends to follow
Christian.
A
big change happened to Ahmed in 1940. When Adam Delegation came to his salt
shop, they ask questions about Moslem. Ahmed hasn’t been able to answer the
questions. From that event, Ahmed rise. He learns English, Al-Qur’an, and
Moslem more and more. He also bought Bible, learns it and does comparison.
After
he felt enough in his learning, he did propagation and debated with some
pastors. Ahmed then becomes a famous orator & debater. He had been debate
with 32 pastors around the world. His
famous debate was his debate with Sowegart. Ahmed also writes some popular
books. “The Choice” is one of his books that was made him receive “King Faisal
International Prize” in 1986. For Ahmed the most important things is Moslems be
able to extend, to save their Aqidah & be able to answer the missionaries challenge.
Ahmed
Deedat died on 2005. ;-(
